Financial assistance required to take case to court

Legal Assistance Required.

I am appealing for financial help, on behalf of my neighbour, and myself.

My name is Mike (English living full time in Cyprus) and my good neighbour is George (Cypriot).

The problem started in July 2011 not long after a lady purchased and moved into the apartment above our apartments. The lady contacted us and told us her lawyer had said the roof was hers, and we had to move our water tower systems from the roof (where all Cypriot homes have their water tanks).

George checked our title deeds, and then confirmed with land registry, and both state that we do have the allocated space on the roof.

We informed the lady of this and showed her our title deeds, which she responded saying they were fake documents and we must move our systems. A Lawyer told us that she cannot remove them, but when we said she was going to anyway, the lawyer phoned her lawyer and suggested he recheck the details and inform his client of the correct facts.

The lady did remove both water systems, and overnight while they were on the ground, both hot water cylinders and all 4 solar panels were taken.

We called the Police, as in our mind this was an act of criminal damage and theft. The Police did nothing, stating it was a property dispute and there would be no chance of finding the missing items. George again spoke to land registry whom contacted her lawyer and informed him of our rights to have both systems installed back in their correct positions.

We have been waiting for compensation ever since, but now she has a new lawyer who has said the roof needs work, as she has a leak.We informed him of the full story and that she still owes us money. He told us she informed him that she paid for and arranged for everything to be put back on the roof.When I showed him that I had in fact paid (by showing him my receipt for replacement of the missing items and re instillation on the roof,) and said that George had one as well, she backtracked on that statement, and said she still would not pay compensation.

We think that the leak was caused because of the removal of the towers, but she said she repaired that, we have no way of knowing, as we no longer have access to the communal areas of the stairwell and roof anymore, as is our right, due to an illegal and very heavy duty security gate she had made and installed at the bottom of the communal stairwell.

To bully and harass us even more, she has had the TV antenna cable cut and thrown down (minor item), and more seriously she has had the electric cable to the hot water cylinders cut, so on the colder times in the winter period, we will have not have the use of the hot water.

We would like to pay for a lawyer to sort this problem out once and for all, and to make sure she does not cause further problems in the future for anyone else, as I have had enough and would now like to sell my apartment, but without hot water on colder days, it would be against my morals to sell on at this stage. Also I cannot currently rent either, but have bills to pay on this empty property, whist existing on a small pension – my only income/savings being this property.
