As difficult as it is to do this, it needs to be done.
Finding work and supporting my family has become extremely challenging in SA. My previous employment was terminated in February 2020 as the business was closing. The previous year (2019) I was retrenched with no payout which caused us to have to sell even our furniture just to be able to survive. When I eventually found work after 3 months our car was written off by a drunk driver and we had no insurance due to not having an income for so long. We haven't been able to get any treatment for all the injuries sustained as we simply couldn't afford it. If we can get to the Isle of Man, I have plenty of work offers there as I qualify on the skills shortage list but to get myself and my family over there we need some extra funds which we just don't have.
Safety is also a very important factor for our decision. We nearly learnt this the very hard way when 6 thugs tried to kidnap our 8 year old daughter. Needless to say she is very traumatized by this, as are we.Currently we live on a farm outside Cape Town. SA is rife with farm murders as you might have seen on UK and USA news channels. Our media denies anything of the sort is happening, but that is simply not true. We now have an emergency evacuation pack packed and ready for us to grab and leave our house if need be. My 16 year old son sleeps with a hunting knife under his pillow as he is petrified someone might gain entry into the house. This is no way for kids to have to live.
My 19 year old son has already left the country, as he can't find work here.
Now add Covid-19 to this and my industry (hospitality) is one of the hardest hit as the government doesn't allow tourists into the country. I don't know when next I'll be working.
If enough people can contribute as little as 5 GBP we can be on our way. We need the money to pay for visas, flight tickets etc.
Thank you in advance and God's blessings.
Once we are in the position we will pay it forward
