Hi there! John Quintana here, I want to talk to you about something very close to my heart, virtual machining.  Virtual machining is when you have multiple operating systems running on the same computer.  For instance you could have Ubuntu, a linux-based operating system, and Windows 7 running on the same computer.  This also allows you to have the same operating system running multiple times on the same computer.  These operating systems will then share all of the resources of the main computer or server, although they will have to be assigned a specific partition in the hard drive.  Using this method you could replace all computers in a business with workstations that are all linked up to one computer and each workstation would correspond with one of the running operating systems.  That means that instead of a business needing to have four or five computers they would only need one computer.  As you can see this form of computing is very powerful and could be very cost effective, if done right.  My three friends, Michael Garrison, Vincent Nicolich, and Michael Batillo, and I believe that this form of computing is the future for large and small businesses alike.  This is why we want to build a server for virtual machining, so we can learn how to manage a system such as this so that we will be able to get better paying jobs and maybe even start our own business one day.

Unfortunately, the way things are right now we do not have enough money to build a server that would be able to handle virtual machining on the scale we would need to be able to learn how to administrate a system successfully.  We need your help so that we can achieve our goal so that we can build the server and help better ourselves.  We have already bought the case that we will be building the server in (pictured in the picture above).  We will use the money that you donate to buy the rest of the parts of the server such as the motherboard, RAM, CPU(s), graphics card, etc.  We plan to build and use the server over the summer so that we can get the most time with it as possible.

In preparation for building the server we have already named it Hydra, like the creature from Greek mythology.  Vincent, or Vinchenzo as I call him, is also working on a logo for it (which will be the image on the stickers).  We also plan on streaming when we put the server together on YouTube so all of our backers can watch.

Just to give you a little more background on all of us here’s this:

John Quintana is a computer science major who will receive his associate’s degree from the County College of Morris at the end of the current spring semester.  He will then go to Rutgers for his Bachelors.  In High School he was given the award for Computer Science Honors.

Michael Garrison is an IT major, he is currently a sophomore at Montclair State University.  He has also done three jobs that required he to redesign and recode three websites for various businesses.

Vincent Nicolich is an engineering major who will receive his associate’s degree from the County College of Morris at the end of the current spring semester.  He will then go to Rutgers for his Bachelors.

Michael Batillo is a computer science major who will receive his associate’s degree from the County College of Morris at the end of the summer semester.

We all live in the Roxbury/ Mount Arlington area.

It would mean the world to all of us if you could help us, even a little bit because everything counts.  Thank you for visiting our fundraiser and have a wonderful day.
