- What is it all about? As a volunteer to the 2015 Thailand program I will spend 21 days assisting local schools and animal sanctuaries, making a difference to the lives of children and elephants. I will help teach, build and protect. I will also take part in a leadership course which will help me apply myself in Thailand and when I return home. As part of my journey i am also learning some language basics so i may communicate and teach succesfully.
- What is the money raised used for? The program itself costs $3000. The deposit of $500 I have already saved and paid for. This cost does not include flights and passport fees which I aim to pay for on my own also (I already own a passport.) The money is used to cover 3 meals a day, accomodation and transportation whilst in Thailand. The money is also used to cover building materials and educational resources, wages for local tradesmen if their assistance is required during our stay,the leadership program and donations to the local communities.
- How did I get involved in this program? Volunteers arrived at my University some time ago who had previously participated in the program. They came around during our lectures and handed out fliers to which I could not resist. The oppurtunity to help children and elephants! Straight away I got onto the website and applied. They asked many questions on the application which I took my time to fill accurately. Places are still open so if I have inspired you why not apply also?
