Lauren Goes Stateside

Thank you for taking the time to read this little letter.

A little bit about me; I am currently volunteering with 1st Wombourne Rainbows and 2^nd Wombourne Brownies have done since the age of 14. I have recently completed my Young Leader Qualification with both Rainbows and Brownies and have now finished my adult leadership qualification which will hopefully give me the opportunity to set up my own Rainbow or Brownie Unit anywhere in the Midlands as soon as I turn 18 in January 2016.

I had the opportunity to apply to go on the Girl Guiding Association ‘Senior Section Goes Stateside’ trip and was successful enough to be offered a place in one of the eleven teams heading off for eleven days for what will be a trip to remember on the 5th August 2016. Please watch this link as it will give you some more information about what I have to do when I get out there and an inside to show you what I will be doing.

I need to try and raise the £2,300 needed to fund the trip on behalf of the Girl Guides so here is when I ask for your help. My team will pick which three states we will visit in America starting off with a send-off from London’s Hyde Park and ending up in Central Park, New York for a mad hatter’s tea party. We will also spend a day doing charity work with a charity of our choice doing as much as we possibly can to help them while we are out there. We also get the chance to compete to win a stateside trophy by competing in a number of challenges and come back the winners with the trophy and hopefully make everybody proud!

I have the next 12 months to raise as much money as possible! The Rainbows and Brownies have been brilliant so far by collecting pennies and putting them in smartie tubes and giving them directly to me and it’s going well! We also have fundraising bike rides, bag packing at Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s planned, cake sales, tombola’s and raffles organised too!!

Your contributions will be much appreciated towards this experience and it will mean I can have the opportunity of a life time!
