Laurel House Cancer Unit Fundraiser

Myself and 4 others; Chrissy Mooney, Claire Campbell, Roslin Darragh and Ryan O' Kane are participating in the Belfast Marathon Relay on 6th May. We have decided to fundraise for the Laurel House Cancer Unit in Antrim Hospital in memory of my late mum, Jackie and are calling ourselves 'Jackie's Jewels'.

Mum was an amazing woman with great strength and positive attitude. She has been an insiration for me and to all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2004 and beat it. Unfortunately the cancer reuturned as secondary in her lungs and liver in 2011 and she passed away in July 2012 at only 49.

We have decided to raise the money for Laurel House as they were such an amazing support and we couldn't have done it without them. The staff were so welcoming each and every time and made such a difference to every patient they attended. They were not only a great support for us but also for other friends who unfortunately have battled cancer, some of which are no longer with us.

The money raised will help maintain the comfort of the unit at Laurel House, help fund the refreshments available to each patient and help maintain the chemotherapy equipment. Every pound counts so no matter how little you think your donation may be it all adds up and will go such a long way.
