Laura’s Studies Abroad

Hi!

My name is Laura, and I come from Slovakia. I've just finished my final year in an international school here called LEAF Academy, which gave me the opportunity to apply to universities abroad. From September, I'll start my Art Foundation year at the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury, England. I am endlessly happy that I got the opportunity to study art there; I believe it will give me all the skills that I need to, eventually, make our world a bit more colourful and entertaining by telling stories through comics, cartoons, or any other kind of art - my hope is to find the best way to do this while at the university.

Unfortunately, the costs for me living in the UK are too much for my family. My parents are divorced, my mom raises me and my two siblings, and while my dad helps us out as well, all their efforts wouldn't be enough to take care of my siblings at home, while also supporting me living abroad.

My rent for the school dormitory for this year will be £5370 in total, which equals 6015€. The amount I am collecting right now is 2300€, since I will need to pay my first installment in early October. The money doesn't include the tuition fees, extra expenses for the study materials, food or any other necessities; this is only the cost of the accommodation from September until May. While I can cover most of the expenses with a loan and some money I'll get from a part-time job, I am afraid it won't be enough to cover my rent.

So, that's why I am asking for your help. Your donation doesn't have to be huge, it can be the price of your morning coffee, but believe me, it would make a huge difference for me.
