“Rocking K Hoof n’ Hide Rugged Wear Collection” Animal Blanket Business

The severe winters in South Dakota and the Midwest cause people to put blankets on their pets prior to going outside. The Rocking K Rugged Wear Collection will address this need by creating a source for pet owners to purchase high-quality coats for their pets including dogs, horses, and newborn calves. The coats will vary in weights and sizes, inside attire will include t-shirts, pajamas with matching little beds, and sport's related materials as well.

This business will operate from the large family room in our farm house preventing the overhead associated with rental property. We are situated along the I-29 corridor between two large metropolitan communities of Sioux Falls to the north and Sioux City/Omaha to the south. Our location provides ample opportunities to connect with private customers via company parties, public affairs, and association with private pet grooming businesses.

Our farm's name will assist with name recognition in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Missouri where people are already familiar with our livestock. This will accelerate sales in these states via the horse industry and state charter clubs. An aggressive nation-wide mailing campaign will seek to establish wholesale connections with pet groomers and private pet stores instead of depending solely on one-to-one sales with individual customers. Our rural connections with other farmers will assist with sales of the larger-sized blankets as new-born calf warmers during calving season.

Our fund-raising goal is $8000. The funds will assist with purchasing the following items including an industrial-style sewing machine, materials of various weights and types, advertising materials, and establishing a website, which I am capable of managing myself. Display stands to hold the products while participating in shows in addition to packaging materials are also still required.
