About Us

Clubul Sportiv De Cricket Timis or "Cricket Timis" is an not for profit NGO that was established in 2013, in Timisoara, Romania. Our focus is to develop and integrate underprivileged youth under 22 years of age, in rural Romania, through cricket and other human engagement programs, in to the main stream society. 

We have three different project for enabling youth namely:

1. LAUNCH PAD - For Youth Empowerment and Life Skills Development
2. COUNTRY ROADS - Grass roots Cricket Development and Cricket Caoching for youth under 17 years.
3. RAPID CRICKET - Special cricket for Children with hearing, speech and learning disabilities.

The focal points of our three projects are detailed below. By contributing to these projects, you will play an important part in the way a deserving, underprivileged youngster looks at life in Romania.

LAUNCH PAD (Ongoing program. Minimum amount needed is 20 euros per person)

Launch Pad is a Youth Empowerment program for rural youngsters below 22 years of age. Through our human engagement programs and workshops, we teach life and behavioral skills to these youngsters, to enhance their chances of integrating in to main stream society, seamlessly. This program instills three life values in a youngster - Intensity to Win, Acting with Sensitivity and Unyielding Integrity - that defines a human being universally!

Since February 2013, we have reached out to 184 youth across 5 village schools in Timis County, Romania and we want to sustain this program by giving an internationally validated "Youth Development" certification through our tie-up with Duke of Edinburgh International Awards..

Starting September 2013, our core team of educationalists, High performance coaches, motivators and social psychologists will continue delivering these workshops, which from time to time will feature eminent personalities, who will give some expert motivational speeches to these youngsters. The annual cost for these workshops is around 18000 Euros. We welcome your donations to make a difference in giving a chance to a rural youngster to face life.

RAPID CRICKET - FOR DEAF AND CHILDREN WITH LEARNING IMPAIRMENT (Need 4000 Euros)

In a first of its kind in Romania, Cricket Timis has designed and launched "RAPID CRICKET" in April 2013, for children who are deaf and dumb, and have learning impairment. 

As the name suggests this game is a quick fire game of shorter duration and lesser players on each side. Scoring is enabled with various visual cues and player's safety being the utmost concern, is governed modified cricket rules that pay focus on this aspect. The game is played indoors or outdoors, wether permitting. The tangible focus of this program is to enable the motor skills of the participants and to form a Romanian national cricket squad for the Deaf. 

However the intangibles are many fold, which includes INCLUSION, self-belief, team work, communication skills, leadership skills, creativity, decision making and most importantly unlimited fun and excitement

We have delivered 5 coaching sessions till now and 27 children are currently playing the game now in Constantin Pufan Center, Timisoara, Romania. We hope to launch the full version of RAPID Cricket, with a special video instructions by signers, on how to play the game, across Romania soon.We look forward to every child with a special need, having a safe way to enjoy a good game of cricket and in a language they understand.

This program was sponsored so far by Corpstrat Consulting SRL. The cost of program is over 3500 euros over the next 6 months and making the video costs around 1350 euros. We welcome your support to help us continue the coaching these children with special needs and to bring cricket to the hundreds more in Romania, who otherwise will have no chance to experience this glorious game. 

COUNTRY ROADS - CRICKET FOR RURAL ROMANIA (Need 2500 Euros)

Country Roads is our grass roots development Cricket Program for youth under 22 years of age in Rural Romania. Cricket Timis is delivering cricket development programs for more than 250 kids under 16 years of age in few villages (Fibis, Carani, Sinandrei, Giarmata, Alios) in Timis County Romania. 

We intend to form a team of 20 boys and one team of 20 girls. The boys team will be playing in the national league of the Romanian Cricket season in the year 2014.

As cricket is not a popular sport in Romania, there is next to no support from anybody. This program is being sustained through voluntary time and material contributions so far from our Coaches, who contribute part of their earning towards fuel costs and other essential expenses.

Our aim is to make cricket a life sport in Rural Romania and create a ongoing pool of talented youngsters who will go on to play for the country and other clubs in Romania. The program is open for all those youngsters who want to learn a new game, play it in its true spirit.

With zero television coverage on Cricket and it's nuances, cricket is definitely an unknown sport in Romania. With the federation still in its womb, and the minimal development available in rural areas, our programs are the first of its kind in Romania to promote cricket for these youngsters, thus giving them a chance to utilize their time in menaingful and purposeful way, staying away from anti-soacial activities.

We are looking at setting community Cricket Clubs in these villages and provide basic trainig facilities like a nets,  artificial playing surface and equipments for the youngsters to have a go. The current cost to coach one pupil is around 30 euros per month, depending upon the distance of the village. Each village will be home for two teams -  a colts team (under 22 years only) team and a women's team, with 15 players atleast for each category.

The cost for running one center is around 1250 euros per month and we welcome partners and well wishers to make this happen.

We are currently sourcing funds for two such teams, from which we will choose one single team to comepte in the national league.
