Latte the Rescue Kitten Needs Life-Saving Surgery

Latte's Story

Latte is a 5 month old, beautifully sweet and stunning female caramel tabby. We rescued Latte and her three litter-mates from a high euthanasia animal shelter and placed her into one of our foster homes. From day one it was clear she was definitely the runt. She seemed to be struggling to thrive (she was small, thin and had some respiratory issues) but also had an incredible resilience. As a few months went by, she proved herself to be silly, gorgeous and playful, but her physical struggles—including labored breathing— continued. We wondered what might be the problem? Her tiny little body was differently shaped than any cat we've encountered: expanded chest cavity with a skinny little back end.

She flabbergasted our veterinarian when he examined her and couldn't feel any organs in the places that they should be! X-rays revealed she has a diaphragmatic hernia, which means almost all of her organs are pushed up into her chest cavity, on the wrong side of the diaphragm! This explains her unique frame and her breathing issues. Despite all of this she is friendly and cuddly with a purr bigger than cats twice her size. Not to mention being a major contender when wrestling her adult cat friends.

The surgery to correct this has a very high success rate, but is VERY expensive. That's where you come in! We need donations to get this surgery for darling Latte. Without it she faces a myriad of complications and will not survive.

Latte is friendly with children, other cats and even dogs! All the humans who meet her fall hopelessly in love. Please help this incredible little being. She's super special.
