My godchild Dima Kosar from Ukraine(Kyiv) has dreamed of becoming a

pilot all his life. Unfortunately, his family is unable to pay for

appropriate education. Due to that he's not 18, I would like to help him

with this and try to collect the missing sum of 20,000 euros in this

way. Here is his story:

"My story and road to the dream lasts in my family for 3 generations, but I'll try to tell as short as I can.

Love to Aviation has begun from my grandfather Borys Kosar (born at 1943).

He lived in a little deaf settlement from clay houses with straw roofs

in post-war years after the Second World War, without any benefits of

civilization. Working on earth from childhood he couldn't take his eyes

off passing planes. Then my grandfather had a dream - to become a pilot.

Running to the school 5km in the neighbor village every day, he studied

very hard and when he grew up, he leaved his native land in search of

his goal.

But it was a very serious selection of pilots in the

USSR. In addition to this, only a communist could become a pilot. My

grandfather could not become a communist, because he was descendant of

repressed ancestors, which were accused as kulaks because of having just

one horse (it was considered as sign of a great wealth), and were

exiled to Siberia, where they died because of cold, hunger and extremely

hard work.

My grandfather didn't gave up, he studied very well

and received a higher engineering education, which gave him the

opportunity to be closer to the planes, servicing them. With time he

became the Chief engineer of large scale production, but his true dream

had never come true. (Photo 1)

Further my grandfather passed the love to Aviation to my father - Andrey Kosar (born at 1971).

Father wanted to be a pilot from childhood too, but when the age of

choosing the profession came, in 1991 the USSR had fallen apart and we

started to live in the independent Ukraine, where everything started to

collapse: total corruption, organized crime, everything was stolen and

destroyed, especially such expensive industry as Aviation. Father was

forced to focus on surviving and creation of the family.

But hedidn't just stood still, knowing the situation, he started to help the

Aerospace Child and Youth Centre (ASC) in Kyiv. ASC is unique, it was

created by enthusiasts with humble financial help from parents. All

aviation simluators, training manuals were created from decommissioned

equipment, and training programs were prepared by retired professional

pilots. Everyone who loves aviation finds a shelter here, education is

absolutely free. (Photos 2,3,4) http://akc-kpdu.org.ua/wordpress/

And so, when the corrupt government decided to take away and sell the

ASC placement by putting all the equipment on the street and taking hope

from the children, my father began to fight with it.He collected

people, made his way to the Minister of Education, put forward various

demands to officials, appealed to the Mayor of Kyiv, as result he

defended the ASC and children are studying until our days. For his

deserts, the parents of about 150 of our cadets elected him as the Head

of the Parents' Committee, who he is today.

When I, Dmytriy Kosar, was born (in 2000), my father passed the love to Aviation to me. He understood that in destroyed education system there are no resources for pilot training, so while I grew up and studied, he was trying to get a budget resources for financing pilots in our country.

And so in 2017 the miracle happened, the pilot faculty in National Aviation University was created and it was allocated funds for 25 budget places. Few cadets from ASC could even pass the exams and get the budget places. But two warring factions in power started to accuse each other in corruption. In result the license was withdrawn, the faculty was closed, and the money from the budget disappeared in an unknown direction. Since then, my father doesn't see the opportunity to become a pilot in Ukraine and is very upset about it, because this is happening in a country that recently was one of 4 countries in the world that had a full cycle in aircraft construction, building, operation and servicing, in the country that built the largest plane in the world - AN-225 "Mriya", in the homeland of constructor Korolyov, which opened the era of space exploration.

We started to look for opportunities to become a pilot in the USA and Europe. Thanks God, KGB no longer exists and "The Iron Curtain" of USSR has fallen down, ukrainians can go abroad. We've corresponded with many Universities and Higher Schools, each was happy to take me for education, but in Ukraine - in country with ruined economics, that survived 2 color revolutions by last 10 years, and is currently at war, there is no way to earn the needed sum. We've appealed to 60 big aviation companies all over the world with request to help with the financing of education, basing on signing a contract for work. The answer is negative. In Ukrainian banks long-term loans for big amounts are not given, and foreign banks doesn't give loans to non-residents.

Nowadays, I'm one of the best students in ASC, I can land a plane in zero visibility by instruments, know English, Physics and Math very well and my father is very proud about it, he invested everything in my education. In this 2018 year I'm finishing the last year of higher school in Aerospace Lyceum and I need to enter the University. I've made a video about what I do:

Now a little bit about numbers. In order to obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL), it's needed from 2 to 3 years of education, during which pilot-student needs to fly 250 hours on certain types of aircraft. In the USA and Europe it costs about 80.000 - 120.000 Euro for theory and practice. But I've found a Technical University In Slovakia (Kosice), already met with the direction and started submitting documents, which ready to teach me for free, but I will need to pay only for use of aircrafts and fuel, about 28 000 Euro. Plus accommodation and meals are 250 Euro per month.

Total:

Flights - 28 000 Euro

Accommodation and meals - 250 Euro * 27 education months = 6750 Euro.

In Slovakia I will also have a right to work after classes and on weekends, the incomes are not big, but I'm planning to earn on living by myself. Also my relatives have collected 8 000 Euro. The missing amount is 20 000 Euro. I have nowhere else to take this money, so I seek help from you and believe that I can realize the dream of 3 generations in my family. My instructors, grandfather and father look at me with hope. When I will become a pilot of a large airliner, I plan to financially help worthy children. We have 100-150 pupils studying in the ASC every year, from which only 3-5 very serious, capable and knowledge-seeking children can be selected in a year, they also need help, but this time in my help.

Help to lay this path, because for us it's a dream, to which many people are going their whole life and only few can reach it. Flight... Only there, high above the ground, I feel the highest degree of freedom from all this earth vanity and greatness of the Creator. This feeling can't be compared to anything. I forget about all existing problems.

For some it may be not a big deal, but for me it's a lot of money. The price of the issue is 20 000 Euro.

I will be informing you about my actions on the way to this goal.
Or there may be people who have other suggestions how to become a pilot. Please write to me on the mail [email protected] , I will be grateful to everyone for your help and advice."
