Lasallian Developing World Projects (LDWP) is a small Christian charity that assist local communities in poorer parts of the world to improve their educational facilities. For 30 years, it has gotten young people from Britain volunteering to work with local people in developing countries to build classrooms or workshops for the local communities and be involved in the life of the local community.
I am fundraising to build a multi-purpose hall that will serve local schools and communities within the Njombe town in southern Tanzania for the summer of of 2015. I will be raising funds to cover the building, travel and living expenses for the 5 weeks I will be there. I may also have the opportunity to teach the local children! I have to raise £1,450 by the end of April 2015.
I know taking part in this project will change me for the better. I believe every child has the right to an education. Projects like these allow more opportunities for young people around this area to get an education and better their future. Although small in comparison to the work of major charities, I believe that better educational facilities will make a massive difference for the young people in Njombe for their learning.
