I need a new laptop.
My laptop is the main tool I use everyday to do my work as a writer, independent journalist and communications volunteer.
All the for-profit and not-for-profit projects of my businessfirmly rely on my laptop and its ability to handle audio, photo and video data.
I have made my 8-year-old laptop limp along as long as I could, including some judicious use of electrical tape, but I must get a new one soon and an upgrade at that. Parts are beginning to fail that are essential, and I'm finding fewer and fewer adequate work arounds to handle digital content.
There's nothing I do that doesn't involve my laptop--that includes gardening and cooking, since I do a lot of research online.
I volunteer as a blog/FB admin for other community groups and non-profits, as well, beyond those projects associated with TKF
I need a new laptop that is mine. I could have used Kickstarter to do this under the project of Sustainable Dakota Digest, but I wanted everyone to know what exactly they were funding--my laptop--a tool that I do a lot of good work (paid and unpaid) with, including SD Digest.
If you like to support local work, small business owners, writers, ecopreneurs, non-profit humanities and gardening organizations, community journalism, environmental ethics, new media, tribal ventures and innerpreneurs dedicated to making this world just a bit better--please consider giving today.
I will be putting together a page soon on my main blog and virtual office, "Between Leaf and Sky," listing all the projects and work I do in one neat concise place with full links. For now, please visit lukekit.blogspot.com and click around to see the various work I do.
Your gift is not tax-deductible, since its a personal gift to me, but thank you from the bottom of my heart. Wopila tanka!
FYI I am planning on using the money to buy a MacBook Pro, and the software I need to do audio and video editing.
