langsam langsam

Before I left college, due to a retracted grant and disabling mental illness, I declared a minor in German studies. Six years later I'm still in love with the language and fascinated by the culture (perhaps the scrappiest of stories is that of a true, unified Deutschland). I am very blessed to now be in a city with a German American cultural center, established in the 50s as a refuge for German Americans, a place where they could miss home with respect and within context. They offer classes at a significantly lower rate than any university, in person or online, and more resources than I've ever had access to.

It is $375 per class, 12 week semesters, plus the cost of books, currently sitting at $240. I have just arrived in Chicago and so my priorities are finding permanent housing and stable medical treatment but I know it would improve my quality of life greatly. I am hoping that I'll get a bonus at work and be able to cover this myself, but it would mean a lot if I could know concretely that come August 20th I will have the tuition. In the event that this goal is met AND I get the bonus, I'll go ahead and pay for the second course. :)
