Laila And Daisy

I was called by a lady in California a little over a month ago. She runs a rescue, pulling dogs who are scheduled for euthanization, from around the U.S.. She told me there were two dogs in a pound about 2 hours from me scheduled to die the following day if they couldn't find a place to go. Of course I wasn't going to say no. I couldn't. They were brought to me the next day, and I was told I'd have help with the cost of caring for them. They were supposed to be taken by someone else to be vetted and spayed (get in adoptable condition). Then the lady told me she has fallen on hard times and doesn't know when she'll be able to get them vetted or reimburse me for their care. I have 2 dogs and a cat of my own to care for, but was told "food, water, shelter, safety and love" for a couple weeks and then these two would be on their way to TN. Now it seems I'm solely responsible for not just feeding them, loving them, and giving them a safe, comfy place to wait for a ride, but also for getting them in shape to be adopted. If I can't do this myself, there's no telling how long it will be before they can be put up for adoption and I'm having a hard time caring for 2 extra dogs with no help from the person who sent them here. Both were abused and Laila has scars to prove it. All I want is for them both to have the lives they deserve to have with people who deserve to have them. The $300.00 I'm trying to raise is for them both to be checked out by a vet, tested for heartworms (crossing my fingers they're both negative), get their shots, and be spayed, so they can take the next step towards their forever homes.
