Laika Is Going Blind!! She Needs Surgery Asap

Hi everyone, meet Laika, she's a Siberian husky, she's little blind and his back legs are not working correctly due to his brain not sending the full signal to them, after being starved of oxygen at birth when mum and littermates laid on her, she was also malnourished. Laika was the runt of the litter and thankfully his owner Katherine saved her from the breeder, as the breeder was going to drown her for being the runt and poorly! She only has around 30% feeling in his hind legs and can only be walked on grass due to this so not to cause cuts and grazes to his legs and paws On Halloween day weekend, Laika started having cluster seizures and we rushed her to an emergency. After seeing a neurologist and multiple tests later, his MRI came back positive for a brain tumor and was diagnosed with a meningioma.

The good news is that she is a great candidate for surgery and the tumor is benign so it can be easily removed. However, the surgery will cost between $2,000-3,000. Radiation therapy is an additional $4,000-5,000 but we will start with the surgery.

In general, dogs with brain tumors can have about a year of good quality of life following surgery and with meningioma, we can often get even longer (sometimes a couple of years). This doesn't stop her though as she's such a happy boy and tries his best to get around by bunny hopping about...and you can see how happy she is and how she just wants to run and play. As anyone knows this isn't fair on any animal and we feel we should help!.
