On the 31st of July i took mine and my brothers 14 week old puppy for a walk on the park, and just as i a coming home i see this man who looked either drugged or drunk stood on the street with his two staffie dogs. As i walk past with Lady, one of the dogs immediately attacks her, gripping her near her neck swinging her around like a toy. im screaming at this man to get it off, hitting the dog with everything that i had. Whilst lady is just yelping as loud as she can in pain. For the first 20 seconds the man stood there without a care in the world. He eventually tries by yanking it, and ends up lying on the floor next to it pulling it, not really doing anything. The attack went on for a while, biting her all over her body, and biting my hands as im trying to open its mouth By this point a lot of neighbours had come out trying to help, one man came out with a bucket of water and threw it over them, allowing me to pull Lady away to safety. After the attack, the man didnt try to approach me to apologise, only threatening the neighbours that were trying to get him to stay for the police. Luckily a neighbour got his address before he walked away. She had to go to an emergency vets, where i got told the following day she has bite marks all over her body, some which have torn her skin. Her shoulder bone popping out and a severly broken leg. The dog warden has been round to see me, and has said that the police wont really do anything as it is a dog on dog attack. Which is outragous, as it was the mans fault who had no control over his dogs. The same dog attacked my neighbour's dog 3 years ago, and this is what happens when nothing is done about these attacks, they keep occurring. Im pursuing the case and taking the man to civil court. She has been in a veterinary hospital since the attack, and has just undergone her surgery today where she has had metal bolts and a metal rod placed in the bones of her arm. All together now we have vet bills which are over £3000, with probably more to come. We have enough money at the moment to cover half the bills, which is with all our savings. Any amount donated is very much appreciated. Thankyou

Update -- I first off want to say a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that has been donating and sharing Lady’s story, I really really appreciate it. Half the bill is paid, just got the other half to worry about now. Picked her up from the vets on the 6th after her surgery, and it was so great to see her! Opened the door to her and she ran over to me jumping up and licked me all over. You wouldn’t think she’s just had surgery! She can’t put any weight on her leg yet though, but that will get better with time. It’s probably gonna take about 6 months to get fully healed and back to her normal self. Cant believe how good of a state she's in, the vets have done an amazing job. The surgery went well, the only complication was that her muscles had contracted around her injuries, and the broken bone in her arm had splintered. The vet said that the dog that attacked her must have had a good go, as it was a very bad break. She’s had metal bolts, wiring and a metal pole placed in the bones of her arm. We have to go back in 3 weeks to get the metal pole taken out, and another x-ray to make sure everything’s okay. After that, our total vet bill will amount to £3500! The police were absolutely useless throughout, didn't call me for 5 days after the incident only to tell me they weren't doing anything and passing it off to the dog warden. Even though the dog bit me, they said that was me getting involved in a dog fight. I've not heard off dog warden in a few days to tell me about what's happening with the man and his dog, but if nothing comes of it I will be pursuing it myself. To be honest I cant believe how little the authorities care about attacks like these, if dont pursue it this man nothing would come to him! The same dog attacked a dalmation a few years ago, so hopefully that’ll work in my favour. On here i can only have 5 photos, so i have had to group some together. I have added her new x-ray showing the metal bar, wiring and bolts, and her scar on her arm. She is recovering really well, and is still a very happy puppy. Again a massive thank you to everyone for showing such kindness and concern for Lady, just shows that there are good, kind hearted people out there!

  • Hi, hope Lady is on the mend and they catch the thug who owns the vicious dog. Laws need to be changed so the bad owners have to pay ! ( I wrote a letter to gazette)

  • Glad Lady is going to be ok.The man whose dog attacked her is a disgrace. Not to do anything and then to try and leave the scene when his dog has caused so much injury to another poor dog.He knows his dog is dangerous because of the dalmation attack(that poor dog had it's throat ripped).Hope some justice is done, because if he gets away with it it WILL happen again.Oh and shame on the police, once again they've proved how truly useless they are.

  • Hope lady makes a swift & full recovery. At 4 months old, our Border Collie was attacked on three successive walks (2 Alsatians & a Dalmatian) & still. at 6 years old, doesn't want anything to do with other dogs. Make sure Lady gets plenty of canine socialisation as soon as possible. They don't forget!
