Lady is my 1 year old Alaskan Malamute. We are raising funds to allow her to receive the best care for her Hip Dysplasia. She was diagnosed with this genetic disease last January upon dislocating her right hip. When we had her checked through a Vet, we found out that her hip sockets are very shallow and unstable, causing her pain and easy dislocation. She currently finds it extremely painful to even just walk due to the dislocated hip rubbing against her hip sockets, as well as the osteoarthritis that has begun to set in. Popping back the hip can be done but is not advised because it will easily pop out of her shallow hip sockets. We are currently administering Cartrophen Vet injections and Glucosamine supplements to make her comfortable, but these measures are simply masking the inevitable malfomation of her hips. We are simply slowing down the disease, but it will inevitably progress and be painful. The best probable and permanent solution is surgery. It saddens me that she still has 10+ years to live and she may not be able to enjoy this due to her disease. I am hoping that I can get enough to ensure that she lives a normal, active, and happy doggy life.
