Kylie the hyena was rescued from a sanctuary in Masvingo that had hit hard times in 2008. They had a lot of lion as well and there wasn't enough meat for all the animals there. Bally Vaughan Animal Sanctuary heard about them and stepped in. We managed to rescue Kylie and some lions from there. Kylie was very traumatized and thin when she arrived at her new home. It’s taken a while for her to trust people but she is now very happy and settled. Along with Kylie, Bally Vaughan rescued Joshua and Johanna - two lions that not only were extremely traumatized and thin but Johanna had a broken pelvis and a severely damaged back leg which meant she dragged herself along with her front legs. Deeply traumatized and critically ill, her prognosis was extremely poor. After receiving lots of intensive veterinary care and lots of TLC she has recovered and is now in her new home with Joshua. Now it’s time for Kylie.
We at Bally Vaughan would like to give Kylie our darling Hyena a bigger home. She loves the one she is in but she desperately needs more space where she can run around and exercise more. We have a huge home for her which we know she will be very happy in but like every new home you move into, it needs some renovations. Kylie is an amazing escape artist and would put Harry Houdini to shame! To ensure her new pen will be secure ( mindful of her great strength and Houdini tactics), we have dug a trench around her new home to lay a solid foundation for a stronger new fence - we now need to pour cement (which we have) and stabilize the fencing poles which we will fix new fencing to. She will also need a pond to bathe in (hyenas love a bath!), a shelter and other modifications to her new pen. The challenge of providing a sanctuary and safe haven for many wild creatures is great - Bally Vaughan survives on donations and public support in this great cause! Therefore we are appealing for your assistance in the form of sponsorship for fencing, poles and materials. In grateful acknowledge of your support, we will advertise the names and logos on her new fence and thank you on every social media page we have access to.
Bally Vaughan Sanctuary is a rescue center and a safe haven for various wildlife species. Animal and bird rescue efforts were started in the early 1980’s as a result of a passion to provide a safe haven for all kinds of wild life who are unable to return to the wild, in pioneers Robin and Kathy McIntosh. Bally Vaughan Sanctuary was built in the early 90's to house an ever growing menagerie. After 39 years, with all the hardships and land reforms, Bally Vaughan is one of Zimbabwe's pioneering wildlife sanctuaries, and is still very much on the map and run by members of the family.
Please help us to help Kylie move into her bigger, better, and more spacious home. The project will cost USD$4000 and if 200 people sponsored US$20 we would get there in no time.

All donations can be paid into the following account (Shane will send the donations to Zimbabwe)
