Campaign Story
On Monday, November 6, 2023, Kuya Von was rushed to the hospital due to symptoms of Stroke (Cerebrovascular Accident). After driving home from fetching up his wife and children, he had a hard time walking up their stairs and the symptoms manifested - body weakness and slurred speech.
His wife, Ate Amor Fernandez, insisted that they should visit the emergency room.
They went to Dr. Yanga Hospital in Bulacan and he was given medical attention. However, after a series of tests and a CT Scan, results showed no infarction or brain hemorrhage. This cleared him from stroke and led the doctors to order another test to confirm other conditions of the brain, this time they were suspected of GBS (Gullain Barre Syndrome).
On November 8, early in the morning, Kuya Von was supposed to go through EMG-NCV (a test for the muscles and nerves) to confirm GBS. However, while preparing for the test Kuya Von had difficulty breathing and he was intubated and connected to a respirator.
That same day, the doctors and the family had a series of discussions about his clinical management and they were advised to transfer to another hospital where their needs can be catered.
Kuya Von was transferred to Bulacan Medical Center and he is currently in the ICU, fighting for his life.
Kuya Von Fernandez was diagnosed with Guillain Barré Syndrome (GBS). This rare disorder occurs when the body's immune system attacks its nervous system. The resulting paralytic effects come on very quickly, and the causes are relatively unknown.
Right now, Kuya Von will undergo a series of IVIG (Intravenous Immunoglobulin) Treatments which cost Php 600,000 - 6 vials a day of IVIG for 5 days and each vial costs Php 20,000. Since he is also diabetic, the management became complicated and a team of doctors needs to manage him.
We are humbly asking for your prayers and financial support. The family still has a long road ahead and the recovery period will take time - only God’s miraculous healing can hasten the process.
We created this fundraising page here to keep his financial goals on track during this difficult time in his health and all money collected will go directly to Kuya Von and his expenses.
Kuya Von and his wife Ate Amor have 2 children, Gio and Aika - both grade-schoolers.
Your help of any amount will be much appreciated. Any questions that you may have, or if you would like to donate outside this page, please contact his wife, Ate Amorelle Joy Fernandez through her number - +63915912667.
God bless your generous hearts. ✨🙏
