Twin Cities Music Artists in the Lab to Record Zombie Soundtrack Album

My latest play, "Kung Fu Zombies vs Cannibals" (KFZ) is premiering at the Southern Theater in Minneapolis in October. From concept to staged readings to the full-on production, it has been a 2 year journey with a lot of laughing, crying, hair pulling, nightmares, and wine. During my journey, I received a lot of support - specifically in regards to the story's development. Through your feedback and our conversations, I was able to really process and identify the heart and soul of my play. I'm thankful for this.

The production team that Randy Reyes (Theater Mu's Artistic Director) has assembled is phenomenal. Our lighting, props, set, costume, and sound designers, fight choreographer, cast, and crew are working rigorously to make into reality the chaotic world that I've imagined. Did I tell you that our music director is composing original score for the play?

And for the past 2 months, DJ Kool Akiem (Micranots, Rhymesayers) has been working with over a dozen music artists on the soundtrack album. It's an honor for me to have award-winning and internationally and nationally recognized musicians on the soundtrack; many of whom are either waiving or significantly reducing their fee.

The KFZ soundtrack album is a side project of the KFZ theatrical production. Unlike the theatrical production of the play, the soundtrack album is not funded through the Mu Performing Arts, Jerome Foundation, and the Minnesota State Arts Board.

I'm writing to ask for your assistance in funding the soundtrack album project. Our goal is to raise $3,500 by October 12th. If we reach our goal, we will be able to press 1,000 discs and fairly compensate the musical artists, our album cover artist, and our graphic designer.

Our featured artists*:
Desdamona Truthmaze Mayda Miller
Beasely Mic101 Big Wiz
Carnage Jake Virden Fres Thao
Tony Bones St. Paul Slim Franz Diego
Tall Paul $kywalker Dark Monk
Ken C Halphduzin Jason Anxious
Manny Phesto G Malicious Reefa Rei
with original cover art by visual artist Amina Harper!

I hope that you will consider contributing $25, $50, or $100 to make this project a reality. If you are unable to provide financial support at this time, that's perfectly alright, but please help me spread the word.

If you do not have a PayPal account and would like to use your debit/credit card, you can make that selection when the "PayPal" pop up window takes you to the payment options. At the bottom there is a link that says "Buy as Guest" - click that and you will be able to use your debit/credit card.

I'm sorry for the confusion but I thank you for sticking around!

Love,

ABOUT THE PLAY: Take a ride into a post-apocalyptic world where zombies have taken over and cannibals hide in the mountains. Based on the five Buddhist tenets, follow two Lao women as they struggle to maintain their personal moral code in a world gone wrong. Developed through the Mu/Jerome Foundation New Performance Program, my new play features martial arts battles and a hip hop score, spun live by DJ Kool Akiem.
