In the midst of Brakpan 's industrial streets lies our areas largest informal settlement namely Mkhancwa. With people looking for employment and better opportunities it has become densely populated over the course of the last few years. Living in dwellings made of corrugated iron, the weather's extremes are more often unkind. Relying on either a government grant (103.46 usd per month ) or whatever little income we generate, it is difficult to clothe and feed our children, let alone motivate them to take the 5 km walk to school. We came from far and wide with dreams of a better life and came across harsh realities. However we still believe, we still strive to do the best we can with what little we have . We've become more than a community, we are a family.
With a little support we can break the cycle by providing our beneficiaries with a solid foundation of literacy and education support structures. The Pre School is registered and the Ladies running are qualified early childhood development practitioners, our volunteers are qualified tutors. All we need to do is reach our goal of raising 59000 usd so we can reestablished the structure and get the necessary material to implement our programmes. As mentioned in the video we would like to erect two container classrooms and portable toilets, the funds will further assist with learning material for all programmes, furniture and fencing the establishment off from the dangerously close freeway.
We trust you will find the above as a cause worthy of your contribution. Let's change lives together.
