I wish to spread the Krump dance movement within the UK as a positive alternative to violence and gang culture for young people and communities. I will achieve this by bringing 2 of the leaders of Krump from Holland to the UK, to work with young people and dancers to educate them on the Krump movement and the history behind the dance style. In December 2013, Ques Zaalman (BaddGuy #26) and Claerence Person (C-Innocent) will come to the UK to represent Holland to lead a series of workshops and seminars to participants, to inspire, educate and increase awareness of the movement.

Krumping, although it uses a variety of aggressive looking moves and expression, is actually radically non-violent and positive. Krump dancers are typically against violence and profanity, and use the dance style to share, support and express. Krump is also used as a way to strive towards racial harmony, and bring communities and groups of people from different circumstances together for a common purpose.

Recently, I was very lucky to meet in person with 2 of the pioneers of the Krump movement from Europe, and learnt their very personal stories and the reasons they started to Krump. To witness first hand two individuals who had spend their teens and early twenties surrounded by violence and corruption, into such positive people with motivation and drive both touched and inspired me, and this project was born. I want to see how this dance style has affected people within the UK, and how we can further develop the movement to have a positive impact on the underground dance communities that do not currently have access to training spaces, let alone the opportunity to work with others from the Krump movement.
