Kristen’s Car Repair

Hi there My name is Kristen, I am 30 years old.

I understand everyone is going through a hard time at the moment due to Covid.

I have nothing to state as to why my situation is special unfortunately except that it means something to me.

I have always tried to help others where I can but this year it seems like it's my turn to need help. Below is the story of what I need help with. Even if you donate a small amount I will be grateful.

On the first of May 2021 My vehicle was rear-ended. Unfortunately, I had not had the opportunity as of yet to insure my vehicle as I had only just bought the car. The responsible party unfortunately does not have insurance either and has not come forward to pay for the damages.

I stay quite far from work where there is no public transport available for me to get to and from my work offices, so for the mean time I am able to work from home but of course this is not ideal. I also can not get to and from the shops myself.

The repair costs for my car is R35 000 (axle damage, rear passenger door, rear bumper, rear quarter section, bumper slide, steel rim, rear tyre, rear shock rear inner cover, boot floor, and the tail light)

The car is also still in the tow yard which is over R41 0000 at the moment to just get the car out and an additional R 350 per day that it stands there. If I do not pay them by the 01-08-2021 I will lose the car. I can not afford this, nor can I afford to buy a new vehicle and have it financed due to my credit card already maxed out from a time period I had no work.

I really miss having a bit of independence and being able to drive to work and back as well as to the shops. I also have two large dogs and if anything goes wrong now that they need a vet I have no transport to take them to and from. I obviously will get the car insured as soon as it is repaired but I have no means to even afford to repair or even get it out the tow yard at the moment.

I also really don't want to lose my car as if it is at the tow yard for more than three months they sell it to cover costs. I have put the total of R76 500 at the moment so that it's enough should the car end up there for three months before I can get it out and still repair it.
