KONONIA CHILD SURVIVAL

 INTRODUCTION:

KONONIA CHILD SURVIVAL group was established in the year 2012 and its major mandate is in trying to address the deplorable and desperate condition of the majority of needy (poor) persons in the Siakago region .many people live far below the poverty line and it is in such light that a church organization is looking forward for a way out to assist the situation.

We undertook a committed investigative survey deep into the interiors and had a door-to -door visit to over fifty household .We came up with the following findings.

FINDINGS :

a)     Many homes cannot afford the mandatory three meals per day [breakfast, lunch and supper) for comfortable survival .The degree of malnutrition in the children we found playing around the compounds is alarming .They were in tattered dressing and their general outlook was dirty and of an unkept condition .Furthermore, they were infected by a number of blood -sucking insects e.g. Jiggers and lice ,causing several unfortunate skin ailments .

b)     The women folks are surprisingly the sore bread -winners of most homes after their men have abdicated their responsibility and ran to illicit -brew dens for solace .To most of the homes we visited, it was women we found present either tilling the small farms in the semi-aridness of the area with small boys /girls looking after the few goats in the visiting of the grass thatched units.

c)      The girl child is involved with other roles of the house like fetching water from the few running water rivers around or cooking the little that can be available of foodstuffs.

d)     There are no sustainable agricultural activities in the area and there is a dire need of assistance in food -aid.

e)  The level of illiteracy is sparingly high even of with the free -primary package that was introduced by the government in the year2003                            

3. THE GROUPS OBIECTIVES /FUNCTIONS

It was with the said findings in mind that I and my wife, as the founder of KONONIA CHILD SURVIVAL urgently called a meeting with the church members to resolve the problem with Jesus Christ advocacy of kindness, mercy and love and minding of the welfare of others.

The agenda in the minutes of our discussion was to form the Kononia self help church group and source for financial assistance from donors to manage the issue.

Therefore, the group was started in 2012undertook all the legal transactions.

1. THE GROUPS PROPOSALS/INITIATIVES

To source for financial aid from donors and well wishers so that we could meet the obligations of the matter under discussion.

We laid down the following initial aspirations:-

a) Start project that can directly or indirectly enable us reach and solve the issue from its grassroots.

 

1. Have an appropriate means of transportation .This is in acquiring a vehicle that will make us transact movement and business to interior most parts of the region .this vehicle can also be used to transport a projector and other accessories in the next requirement.
2. Have a project to roll out films in the village levels and their in impact the message against the ignorance and luck of knowhow rampart in the rural areas. The films objective is also a means of mass communication whereby we can advertises many company products and therein make extra money from the companies in advertisement costs.

Most of the films will be on God as based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ with short spell of others on social aspects of the life e.g.

   - Drugs /addictions              

                                       - HIV/AIDS.

                        - Life kills.

1. Start small farming activities and respond to the need of safe drinking water requirement by instituting water treatment formats through simple scientific methods e-g-
3. Publishing short periodicals that can relay the appropriate message to the masses have a small unit of salaried personnel to assist on filed -work.
4. CONCLUSIONS:

As for the foregoing the group needs a substantial amount of money to cater for its undertakings. My very humble request is therefore to send a SOS to any persons, firm or company of good will out there to make it possible for the to make it possible for the group to meet its financial obligations.
