The story is about a young teenager who goes onto her first solo vacation trip and stays in a dorm. Despite coming from a superstitious chinese family, she forgets the things that her mom will always do when they are overseas like knocking on the door before entering. She finds herself experiencing paranormal activities from an evil spirit which results, she was unable to escape the haunted room.
Why are we making this film:
The backstory of this Singapore student film, Knock Knock, came from this Chinese Asian superstition where travellers have to knock on any hotel/apartment overseas before they enter. The reason why we revolves our film around this superstition as we want to bring awareness that supernatural things doesn’t just happen in Singapore. This superstition applies globally as well.
Inspired by real life supernatural incident that happened during Singapore’s 7th lunar month a.k.a. hungry ghost festival, we decided to bring this superstition into a short film horror story to bring the awareness.
