What is it?
This was a challenge given by our school to help entrepreneurs in third-world countries who do not have enough money to achieve their business plans. The money we raise will be given to Kiva, which is an organization dedicated to help alleviate poverty in third-world countries by lending money to entrepreneurs. After the money gets lended to the entrepreneurs, they will pay it back over a period of time as their businesses grow.
How will it help?
Kiva donates money to entrepreneurs who do not have enough money to start their own businesses. It rewards people for having good ideas and helps stimulate the local economy in the area of the entrepreneurs. Since helping third-world countries has been a priorty by countries that are more developed, donating to Kiva is an easy way to help intelligent people who deserve the money provide for their families.
How did the Gumball Challenge get its name?
The Gumball Challenge got its name through the metaphor of a gumball machine. Helping one entrepreneur is like purchasing a gumball. As one gumball gets purchased, the other gumballs get closer to the bottom to get helped. While we cannot help all of the entrepreneurs or purchase all of the gumballs, just supporting a few people can help all of the rest get closer to their dreams. We were inspired by this metaphor and decided to take the Challenge in order to make a difference. Any money you can provide for us is greatly appreciated and together we know we can help provide for the less fortunate. We would love it if you would help us!!!! :)
