Campaign Story
"Sometimes you get to choose your battles and sometimes they choose you."
It was the 29th of August, 2016 when my 2nd princess, Kalisha Shadia was born. Weighing 5.95lbs., she came out as a happy and healthy little bundle of joy to my husband and I. She learned her first word when she was a year older, and it was "ADA" which means "Daddy".
Last November 25, 2017, it was supposed to be a normal and usual monthly check up for Baby Kisha when her pediatrician noticed that her head's circumference is a bit bigger than other kids her age. We were advised to have Baby Kisha undergo Cranial Ultrasound.
When the results came in last December 1, her Pediatrician informed us about the significant findings. She referred us to a Pedia-Neuro in PCMC (Philippine Children's Medical Center) to discuss the results further. According to the findings, it can be a schizencephaly, subdural effusion or arachnoid cyst with minimal mass effect. To make sure, the Pedia-Neuro ordered for MRI to check Baby Kisha's brain so he can get a clearer picture and a more accuracte diagnosis.
On December 9, the MRI results were released. It was confirmed that Baby Kisha has an Arachnoid Cyst in the left fronto-temporal. We also consulted a Neuro Surgeon to discuss the options that we have and what our next step would be. We were advised to prepare for an operation as soon as possible since Baby Kisha's age is very crucial to her development.
"Arachnoid cysts are fluid-filled sacs that occur on the arachnoid membrane that covers the brain (intracranial) and the spinal cord (spinal). In most cases, arachnoid cysts are present at birth (congenital), but usually do not cause any symptoms (asymptomatic) throughout an individual’s life. Less often, arachnoid cysts may develop because of head injury, the presence of a tumor, infection or surgery on the brain." Source: www.hopkinsmedicine.org/healthlibrary/conditions/a...
NO child has to suffer this. And no mother should ever endure the heartbreak in knowing that her child is sick. And for this, I will fight. My husband and I will fight until we beat AC and until we bring back the sunny days for Baby Kisha again.
We are strong enough to wake up each day with renewed strength for our battle. But we are stronger with your help, and I am bravely and earnestly asking for it.
To be able to proceed with Baby Kisha's operation, the doctor told us to prepare P350,000 to cover up all expenses.
Your prayers, help and support as we go through this battle means everything to us. Should you wish to know more about Baby Kisha's story, or to give support, please see info below:
