Kirsty’s Girl Guiding Anglia trip to Romania

My little sister Kirsty attended the IntOpps weekend at Pax Lodge in London recently and was chosen to represent the Girl Guides on a trip to Romania! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that does not come around easy, she has worked very hard to get to where she is and be handed this amazing opportunity. I am now doing what all big sisters would want to do, to make my little sisters dream come true, and that is raising the money she needs to fund her trip!

So please dig deep and donate anything you can (big or small, every little helps) to help me, to help my sister get one step closer to her dream! Myself and the family have lots of things going on at the moment to help raise the money for Kirsty's trip, we have survival bracelets for sale for £2.50 each plus 50p postage and lots more crafty stuff coming up, please contact me if you require further details!

Dear Kirsty

Thank you for attending the IntOpps weekend at Pax Lodge. It was lovely to meet you and I hope you enjoyed it!

I am delighted to be able to offer you a place on the Girlguiding Anglia trip to Romania next summer. As you know this is a service trip, including a week volunteering at a summer school for rural children about 1½ hour’s drive from Bacau. The dates of the trip, including a stay with sightseeing in Bucharest beforehand and a visit to Count Dracula’s Castle afterwards, are 23 July-5 August 2014. The group will consist of 6 girls (some from 2012 IntOpps) and 2 leaders.

We are running two trips and they will overlap in Bacau in the middle – this is the first one.

There will also be an opportunity to attend a basic peer educator (4) course before you go which we do recommend because it might prove useful for you at the summer school.

The cost will be approximately £1,500, and you would be credited with a grant of 10% (£150) on receipt of your deposit to get you started. You would then be expected to do some fundraising!

A Message from Kirsty
''I am especially looking forward to the week we will spend at the summer school because I am really curious to see how the children’s lives are different from my own. In addition, I want to help the children and support them in any way that I can, as I know full well that I have more privileges and opportunities in my life compared to theirs. Working with them will also help me to learn more skills that I can use to excel in my life in Guiding as well as outside of it.

Therefore, I would benefit from any donations because it will bring me one step closer to experiencing this brilliant opportunity I have been given and the chance to enhance my knowledge of the outside world, first hand. More importantly, however, it will bring those children in Romania one step closer to any help and support my volunteering will bring them.''
