Building a school one brick at a time

Located in Oloirein Lemek, Narok West Constituency, the Kirantos Sunshine primary school started in January 2016 under the tree with 10 kids. We soon had 70 kids and 4 Teachers. Classes were taught in the field and under our trees to protect us from the sun.

In June 2016 we started this campaign with the help of some friends from all over the world. We managed to build 2 classrooms and with the help of BeyondWater Global also latrines. Fortunately the 4 teachers stayed with us all the time and we currently have 110 children, with more on a waiting list. In 2017 we built another building with 2 classrooms. In 2018 Beyond Water Global added guttering and a water tank, so the kids can wash their hands.

My Goal is to improve the life standard of Maasai families on our land by making sure that all our kids can attend school.

Our dream is to have a school that starts from grade one to grade eight, eventually to high school.

One classroom costs us around 800000 KES (Kenyan Shillings), that is 7900 USD or 6950 EUR

We also have some running costs, mainly the salaries for the teachers.

Our goal for second half of 2021 is to raise 6000 EUR to build a kitchen that school authorities have mandated so we can keep providing morning porridge and hot lunch for the kids.

Thank you for your help! Ashe Oleng (this means "thank you" in our Maa language)

Great love to you all.

Daniel Nabaala Kiranto

The school is thriving - we need to build a fence. Please help us to fund it!

Update posted by Nabaala Kiranto at 07:46 pm

The authorities have informed us that we require an electric fence to protect the children. They have threatened to close the school down until this fence is implemented. In January we also had 2 break ins where the school books were stolen and the pipe from the water tank. After. . . . .
