What is Kindred Delivery?

Kindred Delivery is a Pittsburgh-based meal kit delivery service. We are committing ourselves to the community and local businesses by reimagining the meal kit delivery service. We believe in sustainability and supporting local. Kindred Delivery is one of the only PGH based meal kit delivery services and the first to almost exclusively use locally sourced ingredients.

At its core, what we do is similar to the milkman days of old. Our products are responsibly sourced and must meet our stringent quality and ethics standards. Giving back is one of our primary missions. For each subscription, we will be delivering meals to those of our community in need. All of our recipes are curated in-house, prepared fresh, and delivered right to your doorstep.

Our Story…

Kindred Delivery was born out of a desire to connect communities through food. Our founder Jake grew up on a small farm in Northern Virginia and has fond memories of delivering produce to neighbors and friends and experiencing their excitement. After doing some research into CSAs and meal delivery, he could not find an option that both minimized waste and offered local, healthy ingredients in the Pittsburgh area. He co-founded Kindred Delivery with David and Austin in hopes of bringing this experience to the next generation by making local food more accessible and convenient.

Almost all ingredients are sourced from local, mostly family-owned farmers so it is food you can trust to be fresh. We are Pennsylvanians supporting Pennsylvanians by sourcing locally and sustainably. By choosing us, customers are helping small family businesses thrive. They’re also increasing food security, reducing their carbon footprint, and helping to keep our environment clean.

An investment in Kindred Delivery is an investment in the health of Pittsburgh - You will be helping to provide healthy, locally-sourced options for the community. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh is an area of food insecurity (The county average of 14% of households is considered food insecure, when residents are uncertain of whether or not they have enough food to meet basic needs at some or most times during the year). At Kindred Delivery, our goal is to narrow this statistic. All subscriptions to our service help to feed local families in need.

You will be supporting Kindred Delivery’s initiative to transition to a business model that provides benefits for employees molded from European Labor Laws (“Working time, part-time and fixed-term work. Protection from discrimination, the protection of pregnant workers and equal pay rights, informing and consulting workers on workplace issues, including collective redundancies and business transfers). Our goal is to uplift the community through economic and workforce development.

Your contribution will also solidify your support of Pittsburgh's community development! Kindred Delivery will be instrumental in the city's efforts to revitalize the area and restore it to its original charm as a business enclave ensconced in a historically preserved city.
