Campaign Story
With childhood obesity increasing at staggering rates, parents and caregivers must play an active role in protecting children’s health. Eating healthy foods is a key factor in maintaining their overall well-being. But, this has to be balanced with regular physical activity.
Children who are physically active on a regular basis will reap enormous benefits. Studies have shown that they:
- Are less likely to become overweight
- Have a decreased risk of developing type 2 diabetes
- Have reduced blood cholesterol levels and lower blood pressure
- Have higher self-esteem and reduced incidences of depression and anxiety
- Are more likely to build strong bones and muscles
- Are more attentive in school
Dance Classes
Focusing on youth in minority neighborhoods and communities, researchers found that kids will almost universally embrace dancing.
The donations will go towards opening a Dance Studio helping obesity in Kids.
Sean Pruitt
comes to us from Chicago, Illinois bringing a whole new style of dance to communities that has not been touched before. Sean found a love for music in his early teen years and has been studying and instructing Hip Hop, Break Dancing, Pop n Lock, Tumbling, Chicago Footwork, Capoeira and Kungfu for over 30 years. Sean has performed and taught extensively throughout the USA in local dance recitals, community theatre, entertainment companies, workshops for the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters, as well as one of the members of the famous Jesse White Tumblers. Sean has also managed and hosted the “Dance for a Cure” event in years past, a fundraiser for the National Hemophilia Foundation. Sean has worked with children ages 3 thru adult, however his dance studio will focus primarily on getting the children of the community involved in Fitness rather than other avenues that may not be so positive. He is a leader of the D.A.R.E program.
