Campaign Story
Through education and hands on application, COOK AND GROW provides youth with the tools to make better choices about food as well as maintain healthy habits.
The program also addresses diabetes, high blood pressure, childhood obesity, and other health realities that our youth face.
Cook and Grow chooses to use the kitchen and garden as the classroom because it provides a fun, friendly learning environment that allows youth the opportunity to apply what they learn.
Children learn the basics of:
Kitchen Safety
Nutrition and the food chart
Measuring and food terms
Understanding food labels and shopping
Table setting
Manners and more!
Children will gain a greater understanding and appreciation for food by growing and caring for their own herbs and vegetables. Along with field trips to local family and community owned farms and gardens.
Programs vary from 4-6 weeks through out the year and the ages range from 8-13yrs old.
We encourage you to consider sponsoring a youth to attend the program. Your support will positively impact their lives through this unique opportunity. We welcome your contributions and support in running our program and making it a continued success.
