Hi Everyone,

My name is Mae Antonette Obedoza. I am the 2^nd child of Mercedes Gutierrez. My older sister is Karen, and our youngest is Bianca.

I am writing this letter to ask for help for my older sister Karen Obedoza-Aquino. For those of you who do not know, Karen is in need of a kidney transplant immediately. She was diagnosed with a Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease. It was hard to accept the results of all the lab tests they conducted on her. She really thought she was healthy and that hypertension is just what she have to get through with. But everything had changed after hearing the diagnosis. She went to a couple doctors and all of them had the same diagnosis. Now, she have to face a new life with this new struggle.

She was left with two options: to undergo dialysis treatment or to undergo a kidney transplant because both of her kidneys are no longer functioning well.

Things are a little tight with her and my whole family. She was earning a living as an Instructor in a university and her husband is in sales. We cannot afford all rue expenses we may incur to undergo dialysis or kidney transplant. Although, my sister Bianca is willing to donate her kidney, We have left with around 800,000.00 to cover the expenses for the surgery. Normally, if she don't have a donor, she may incur 1.5 million pesos in the surgery alone as what the professional said.

As Karen always say when she was diagnose with this, “I still want to live a longer life. I have 2 little children, Amara is 3, and Achilles is 2 , and it is my dream to see them reach adulthood and teach them life lessons. I still want to show how much i really love them. I still want to be their guiding light as they journey towards the fulfilment of their dreams. And most importantly, i still want to be a MOTHER to them as they grow up.” It really saddened me and make me cry whenever she’s telling me this, I know Karen is a fighter, I know she can beat this and she could only do it if she will undergo with the transplant procedure. Although, We are also considering the dialysis as an option as we prepare everything needed for the transplant procedure.

With this, I humbly seek assistance from you all. Any amount of help will be greatly appreciated. I know that our God will continuously bless you and your family as you help one of His needy children.
