Hi my name is Erika. I am the sister of Patrick Samano. In the family, we lovingly call him "Tiny" (ironic since he stands at 6'0")

I set up this fundraiser page with the aim of raising enough money to help Tiny who's suffering from end stage renal failure and is in immediate need of a kidney transplant.

Tiny is a PWD (person with disability). At age 5, he was diagnosed as mentally challenged with Cognitive dysfunction (also known as brain fog). This causes loss of intellectual functions such as thinking, remembering, and reasoning. Patients with cognitive dysfunction have trouble with verbal recall, basic arithmetic, and concentration.

Because of his mental state Tiny, who's now 32 years old, has never finished grade school, has never been able to land any job and has been reliant on family's help ever since. Needless to say he is unemployed, with no medical insurance and under constant care of our mom and dad who are both retired.

Tiny is now under dialysis, a costly but temporary fix while we, his loved ones, press on to pool the money needed for his transplant operation. Almost everyone in our small family expressed willingness to be living kidney donors. But each potential donor needs to first pass all health clearances and undergo a battery of expensive tests to determine compatibility. If a donor turns out to be a non- match, the same series of expensive tests needs to be done to the next potential donor.

We've already sought assistance from Social Services and we were informed that Tiny has to go through these costly procedures:

During Work-up of both the Recipient and the Donor:

Laboratory Tests

Radiology

Cardiovascular

Nuclear Medicine

During Transplant Operation and Donor Nephrectomy (Laparascopic):

Hospital Accomodation

Medicines

Operating Room

Supplies

Laboratory and other procedures

Miscellaneous

The amount needed for the work-up for both Tiny and the donor, plus the cost of the operation would reach around PHP 845,000.00 (USD 17.6k).

Sadly, this amount is something our meager income cannot satisfy. Post-surgery, Tiny has to take anti-rejection medication for the rest of his life. This expense alone can be up to PHP 80k a month (USD 1.6K/month) for the first year.

Our family now humbly turns to friends and family for help. Having kidney disease is a condition that's not just physically taxing but also emotionally draining. Your donation, regardless of amount, can make a huge difference in making our financial burden a little more bearable. Thank you in aiding us and my brother to triumph over this ordeal.

Our family appreciates your love and support.
