Kidney Transplant for Ate Candy

Our dear friend Ate candy was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Chronic Kidney Failure last February 15, 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. She has been on hemodialysis since March 2019. She had her Fistula surgery last July 19, 2019 at Phramongkutlao Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand. She moved to the Philippines to continue her treatment from September 13 until the present. While the hemodialysis treatment is effective, it is very time consuming and limiting. Some patients may only require dialysis two to three times a week, while others require it every day. Regardless, every patient will depend on this machine for the rest of their life, or until they find a compatible kidney for a transplant.

Over time, her kidney disease has gotten worse causing her kidneys not to work well enough to keep her alive. This is what Ate Candy is facing now, and her treatment options are limited to dialysis treatments or a kidney transplant.

Getting regular dialysis treatments, usually three times a week for four hours at a time, will help her kidneys do their job and keep her alive, but a transplant would offer her more freedom and the ability to live a longer, healthier, more normal life. A transplant would also give her more time to do the fun things she enjoys most, like singing, and spending time with her family and friends.

We are writing this to seek out any form of financial help that you can give as she is unable to work as of this moment to help pay her medical bills. She also lives alone in the Philippines (and visited by her siblings once in a while) and she is supporting herself. She's a very strong person, and although she is faced with this current condition, her disposition remains positive.
