KIARA'S HAVEN - A fund raising campaign to help the 7-year old Kiara get the medication, treatment, care and comfort she DESPERATELY needs!
On Saturday 16th June 2018, Candice King's beautiful 7-year old little girl was diagnosed with brain stem Giloma aka DIPG - Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. This was a big shock to the whole family!
What is DIPG?
DIPG is a cancerous pediatric brain tumor located in the middle of the brain stem. This is no typical cancer. This is the WORST brain tumor in existence. DIPG is very aggressive, inoperable, and incurable. It takes away the ability to walk, talk, breathe, swallow, survive. In the end, children are locked in and all physical abilities are gone, but the tumor does not affect the part of the brain that produces our cognitive abilities, so the child is 100% sane, alert, and mentally aware of the torment while they progress. Most pass within 9 months. There is no cure due to lack of funding, research, or concern from our government. This is why we need to raise awareness and funds.
WE NEED YOUR HELP, PLEASE!
Since Kiara's diagnosis the family's financial expenses have gone over all imaginable budgets, medication, medical treatments and daily living costs, transport etc are just too much!
We need help - any help! We are prioritizing Kiara's comfort and medication as well as looking after a healthy diet for her - consisting of Alkaline and NO sugary foods.
Kiara's Mommy, Candice King have a job and medical aid. However, the family can just not cope with all the financial commitments! Candice is scared of losing her job and her home!
Kiara completed her 30 radiation sessions on 15th August 2018. Now doctors bid us a farewell as there is nothing more they can do! They call this the honeymoon period. A time to enjoy and make memories.
We would like to offer Kiara the opportunity to be with her family for a while longer! There are trails available (trails are all out of the family's pocket) and we would very much like to have Kiara take part. She's been accepted. However. it's super expensive!
Meanwhile, monthly medication for Kiara amounts to over R9000.00 South African Rand ($618). Every little bit of help, will bring comfort and an opportunity of a better quality of life to this beautiful girl! It will extent her life for another day... another week.... or another month!
