Kenya Volunteer Project

Hi everyone! 

As most of you will already know I'm off to Kenya on the 15th of September for 3 weeks! I have been accepted into a program with a brilliant organization called the Global Volunteer Network and will be placed in a suburban town surrounding Nairobi. I’m going to be volunteering as a ‘big sister’ in an orphanage with children who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, abused children and children whose parents can’t afford to provide for them anymore. 

This is something I’ve wanted to do for such a long time, I’m so excited I’m finally doing it! Although the reality of this has started to sink in and I'm starting to feel a little nervous! 
I’ve set myself a target of £800 to donate to the orphanage to provide them with basic living essentials, school supplies, toys etc. Any extra money raised I am going to put towards my airfare which is £700. So in total I’m hoping to raise £1500.
