Hi All

I think it is fairly obvious since my 6 weeks there last year how much I love Kenya I cant begin to explain to people what an amazing experience it was living and working there for that time and if i had the ability to i think i would have stayed! i am pretty confident it will be a place i will return to time and time again and will be a big part of my future but for now holidays will have to do! i am due to go back at the end of september and have convinced two of my closest friends to visit with me, I think they are very intrigued by this place i havent stopped speaking of and I cant wait to take them and i am quite sure they will come home wanting to go back again!

although we are spending the majority of our time doing the tourist thing I have always said I wont go back without spending some of my time with the projects i worked with or visiting new projects, it doesnt matter if its a few hours out your day or 6 weeks just going along and doing something is better than doing nothing and i truly believe you havent seen a country until you spend time how most of the locals live and not just sat in your hotel where you could be anywhere! the girls are very keen to see the real Kenya and said they want to see as much as possible

we will be spending a couple of days visiting some projects and one of them is called Gioto garbage slum, its one i wanted to see when i was there last year but i didnt get the opportunity to go. The agency i worked for dont place volunteers there so they dont get as much help as some of the other projects do. Gioto is one of the biggest slums and well if you watch this video it speaks for itself

i dont expect to keep being given donations but if you dont try every time you dont get anything and if we raise £10 thats a lot of kids being fed for a day! so i am keeping this page open if you want to donate that would be amazing and i can assure you 100% your money goes straight to the people! i am sponsoring two children there and do keep in regular contact with the charities I always wish i could do more and i am waiting for that lottery win but until then i will keep doing what i can and if that involves harassing all my friends then sorry your going to have to put up with it ;) i know i cant change the world or save africa (comments made to me!!) but everyone can do something and something very small to you may be huge to someone else

i want to thank all the people who have helped me previously whether that was cash donations, baking cakes for work sales, donating clothes or just listening to me ramble about my time there it is very much appreciated!

i know it sounds cliche but that experience did change me, it made me realise how lucky we are, how spoilt and selfish we are and how everyone can help someone! it made me realise who my friends were, it made me stop worrying about those who dont understand me and it has given me dreams to go back one day and set up a project of my own, who knows if it will ever happen but never say never!

I will keep you all updated as always!! asante sana (thank you) vicky x

if you didnt see my video diary of my time there last year this is the link its long but cramming 6 weeks in was hard!
