Kenya Children’s Program–Help Me Help Others!

Hello everyone!

I am Ramika and this summer starting July 15^th, 2013, I will be traveling to Kenya to volunteer in The Children’s Program through the Global Volunteer Network.  What exactly is the children’s program you may wonder? Well The Children's Program works with children who have lost a parent or both parents to HIV/AIDS, children who have been abused by their parents and children whose parents are not able to provide for them. Most children find shelter in Children's Homes which are purpose built to provide a home and education to kids in need. There are approximately 1,200,000 orphans living in Kenya because of HIV/AIDS and this program works with those children.

As a volunteer I will work with these kids by mentoring them, teaching them, helping them with homework and doing fun activities to let them know that they are truly loved and adored. These children seek love and affection and I am willing to give my all into providing that for them.

As you may know, volunteering comes at a cost but I refuse to let any financial road block prevent me from doing what I love to do: help others in need. This is where I need your help. If you are able to help support me financially in some way it would be greatly appreciated. My program fee to volunteer in the Kenya Program for 2 weeks is $1,597. In addition to this, I am required to pay for my entry visa, vaccinations, airfare and insurance. I would humbly appreciate any donations you can give to enable me to help others that are less fortunate than we are.
