Dear Ken Wa Kan Community,
The other day while practicing my roundhouse kick in Sensei David's class, I noticed pieces of foam flying out of the pad my partner was holding - and it wasn't the only one! Later that week I ran into Shihan Michelle and asked if she would be open to my asking our community to pitch in and help replace the worn out pads and duct taped mats in the dojo. With tears in her eyes and full of gratitude, Shihan Michelle humbly said yes.
So let's do this!! When asked for her wish list, Shihan Michelle came back to me with top quality equipment that will last through our intense training classes. She requested two different types of Japanese pads, costing $60 or $105 each; and modular floor mats that cost $125/piece. Any funds raised beyond what's needed to replace pads and mats will go towards improving the facilities. When asked for a wish list of ways to spruce up the place, a fresh coat of paint and new rugs were at the top of the list. The dream projects are custom built cabinets and new flooring. Let's make Shihan's dreams come true!!
Ken Wa Kan is such a remarkable community that continues to give to all of it's members in so many ways. Let's give back!
