Kendra’s Medical Volunteer Trip – India, June 2018

Hello everyone! My name is Kendra Georgesen, and I am studying Nursing full-time at Ball State University. I am currently a senior in my program, with this upcoming summer being my last before graduation. I am in my fourth semester of clinicals, and I have experienced 8 different clinical rotations (Fundamentals of Nursing, Psychiatric-Mental Health, Pediatrics, Community Health, Childbearing, and 3 semesters of Medical-Surgical). This summer I have been accepted to a medical program which allows me to volunteer in Faridabad, India! Through this program, I will gain first-hand exposure and insight into the Indian health care system. I will be placed in one or more of the free medical camps in slum communities, local clinics and throughout a network of hospitals. The cost of this program is relatively cheap, but with flights, visa, the registration fee, and travel insurance the trip becomes a bit more pricey. The total price I have calculated is $2,479, and I have broken that total price down below. Any amount will be extremely helpful! I am so excited to be immersed in a different culture and learn about the medical practices in India.
