My name is Tayla, and I am the proud mommy of 5 rescue Persian cats.

On 4 July 2020, I adopted my first 2 perfect Persian angels - Kendall and Kylie. It has been just over a year now since I've had them. They were rescued from awful backyard breeding conditions and were used as 'baby makers' their whole lives. When I first adopted them, I didn't notice anything peculiar, but did a full health examination on them both. Everything came back normal. I was very grateful. However, as the months went by, I noticed Kendall's nipple had started to develop a small growth. I got it checked out by a highly-recommended vet and was told that it was a non-cancerous growth and that I shouldn't worry. Fast forward another 3 months, and the growth had almost doubled in size. I once again went to another vet who insisted that this growth was non-cancerous and that I shouldn't worry. A yellow liquid began oozing out of the growth and I was told to simply "squeeze" it in order to drain the fluid and relieve her of any sort of discomfort, and so I did. However, something in the back of my mind told me to get another opinion.

I took her to one of Johannesburg's most well-renowned veterinary hospitals and they put her through extensive testing. The results were as clear as day...it was a very aggressive form of mammory gland tumour and required immediate removal. The cancer had thankfully not spread to her lungs, and just required an operation to remove what tumours were there. She had been doing well since then, but has recently been worrying me again. I can see tumours growing back and have been given the option of doing chemotherapy. Before anyone feels the need to say something...no, she is not in pain and I have made sure of that, otherwise of course euthanasia would be the fairest option. She is still a very happy little girl and has many years to live a happy, cancer-free life.

I am appealing to anyone willing to contribute even the smallest amount towards her estimated vet bill costs, and, if at any point, I decide to not go ahead with it, I will donate the funds towards a selected animal cause.
