The Overfield Family is in need of your help. Ken, a 41 year old loving husband and father of 2, was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis with chronic pain back in December of 2006. After continuously going through countless medical procedures and testings and numerous ongoing stays in the hospital, Ken's doctors have finally decided that the only thing left to do for him is surgery. What makes this surgery so special and different from any other surgery, is that all his doctors here in Illinois feel that his best option would be to go to the University of Minnesota (UM) and have his pancreas removed and his insulin producing cells (islet cells) transplanted into his liver in hopes that he will not become a diabetic. This process will include numerous trips back and forth to UM with each trip being at least 2 days long until they finally schedule the surgery. Then, when it is finally time for the surgery, he will be at UM for at least 2 weeks in the hospital and at least another 4 weeks in a hotel nearby the hospital until he is officially released to make the long trip home. Therefore, with all the trips and stays, and medical expenses, and more, making this happen for Ken is just going to be too costly for him and his family to make happen on their own.  So, in order for this life changing/lifesaving surgery to happen, the Overfield's need to raise at least $15,000 to help pay for all the expenses involved with this process. So, all the help they can get will be much appreciated. Please, help Ken to get back to being the DAD and HUSBAND he misses so much!!
