December 1, 2019 - December 9, 2019 I will be heading to New Orleans for a week of volunteering through IVHQ (International Volunteer Headquarters). They offer amazing opportunities to volunteer all around the world in different forms from education, medical, environmental/construction, wildlife preservation, and cultural. I am in love with art and art history. I want to spread that passion to the children and adults who are right there on the front lines. I want to help get people excited about carrying these things on. So, as my first traveling volunteer opportunity; I chose the Art & Cultural preservation in New Orleans.
The Arts and Culture Preservation project aims to help organizations in New Orleans that are dedicated to promoting and preserving the arts and culture of the city through community outreach and providing safe spaces where children and adults can express themselves and learn.
Local initiatives need help with the beautification of their facilities or art installments, and support with after school art programs. There are also environmental organizations that like to promote art through the creative reuse of materials.
As a volunteer on this project, I will have the unique opportunity to support the culture and people that are at the very heart of what makes New Orleans different from any other city in the US.
I pushed the "Go" date back into December so I had as much time to raise money as possible. The money I am trying to raise will be used for my round trip flight around ($450) and part of the $500 fee for lodging, food, transportation, supplies, and supervision of head volunteer officials.
Thank you so much for considering helping and taking the time to read through.
