Keeping Gelly Strong

In, August 2013, shockingly our 5 year old daughter Giselle also known as "Gelly", was diagnosed with stage III Wilms Tumor... What started out as a normal Saturday night, ended up as a whirlwind of disbelief and finally acceptance...

My once Rambunctious, fun loving, free spirited, high energy child was struck down with a side pain that brought me to my knees...with a rush to Joe DiMaggio’s Children Hospital ER, we realized there is nothing ordinary about our situation...To our disbelief we have begun the Fight against childhood kidney cancer.  Gelly is now 1 of 500 cases a year, she tested positive for LOH 1p and 16q genetic markers that required a change in the current protocol used to treat Wilms, she has become a candidate for a New Regiment M, an intense treatment protocol which will hopefully eliminate the reoccurrence chances that have been identified in LOH positive cases....This New regiment requires more of our attention then imagined.

She is in week 13, of 38 weeks, of Chemo Therapy...

Gelly is one of three, she has a 17yr old sister Kayela, a senior in High school, and a 12yr old brother Angel, a 7th grader. I am Mommy my name is Jennifer, and my husband Ramon is better known as Daddy… Like most folks out here we are a working class family, making the most out of this situation and we are asking for Your Help…

I have had to make the decision to leave my job because of our treatment plan. No one knows this little girl like her Momma, my heart was being pulled in two directions… Surviving and Surviving… A friend directed me to this site, where people gather to help others……in hopes of finding those willing to help me stay home, and fight alongside my little warrior….my daughter, my love…
