Keeping a classic in the family

I'm trying to raise enough funds to cover gas and a car trailer rental to get my grandparents '52 Dodge. My grandfather recently passed away and I am running out of time to travel to California and pick it up. Unfortunately, even with my husband and I both working full time we don't have the extra funds to do this.

I remember visiting my grandparents every summer and school vacation and all the vehicles they had. One that particularly stuck out to me was their Dodge truck. In the past few years I had lost all hope that it would still be there when my grandparents passed. My mom can remember driving it and being driven to school in it. I would love for this to stay in the family so it can be restored and so I might have something to show my kids, since they were never able to meet my grandparents. I'm hoping to work on this over the next 5 years so that it's done before our oldest starts driving. We have many ideas on how to redo it but I think one of our goals, when it's finished, is to use it as a tool for spreading awareness for Cystic Fibrosis which is a genetic disease our 2 youngest have.
