Keep Sao at home!

I am reaching out to all of you friends, family and whoever else can contribute.

As you know we have been running Easy Guesthouse for the past 3 years, from the beginning W have had the most amazing and reliable cleaner. Her name is Pawn. She is a big part of the Easy family and the place wouldn’t be the same without her or her fun-loving daughter named Sao. Pawn came to the guesthouse as a shy 18 year old, she is from a group of stateless people called Shan or Tai yai which means that she came here with no papers, no passport and no rights. After a lot of hard work we managed to provide Pawn with a passport and a work permit and as she and her daughter are special to us all we really want to help with a little more to keep her family together. Now aged 21 Pawn is not only working at Easy but has another job along with her husband working evenings, this leaves Pawn in an incredibly hard situation – which is ultimately going to end with Sao moving hours away to live with Pawns parents which when spoken about brings her to tears and it is not what any of us want. (Although this is quite common in Thailand, Sao is really enjoying growing up with Joni and the other children nearby – she has got multiple opportunities to learn English too!) This is where you all come in!

I am looking to provide Pawn with a laundry shop nearby the new location of Easy Guesthouse, along with a small home for her, her husband AND of course Sao. This is why I am asking for your help to give any donation towards new laundry machines and dryers so we can start this business up for her and then she can continue to run it by herself with Sao by her side. This would mean that all the neighbouring homes, guesthouses and passers-by could use her service and allow her workload to be lightened. She will continue her job at Easy but be able to look after Sao in the evenings by having this as her extra job instead of a restaurant in the evenings.

Currently Sao is enrolled in a school during the day but it comes at a price of 1700thb per month, IF we raise the money and Sao can stay in Pai with her family, she will continue to attend this school until November where she will then get a place in the government school! To provide Sao’s school payments until then will cost 13600thb. The government school is much more affordable which will greatly bring costs down for the family when she gets her place there.

Any big or small donation towards this dream of keeping such a happy family together will be greatly appreciated. Fingers crossed that we can do this and keep Sao and Pawn together.
