For the past 7 years I have been writing a (mostly) weekly column in the Barrie Examiner called Root Issues. This is a chance for a concerned community member to write about local issues, social justice, and the ecology that provides for our lives, in place of syndicated columnists or self-congratulation from local elected officials. I am not paid for my contributions, but at least I have been receiving a free subscription to the paper, so I can clip my columns and keep up with responses.
But that has ended. PostMedia, in their ongoing quest to find profit in news, has cancelled all free subscriptions. Now I have to pay to keep up with the news I write about.
Can you help? Sure you can! If you appreciate the different perspective that I bring to our local paper, please contribute to my subscription. It's not a big expense, but it offends me to have to pay while providing the content that moves their newspapers. Any contribution is appreciated.
If you've read my columns and found them valuable, please contribute. $340 is 2 years' subscription, or 75 columns, or less than $5 per column. Is it worth $5 to you to see this series continue? I sincerely hope so, and I thank you in advance for your generous support.
Rewards
