Who I Am

Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit this. My name is Katie! I'm a 28-year-old artist, writer, tea aficianado, and big sister. I'm not married, but I have cats, which is kind of similar. I love knitting, drawing, painting, watching YouTube videos, and living in an apartment with food and stuff. That's what brings me here.

Despite my many wonderful qualities, I also suffer from chronic physical pain and clinical depression (the latter of which I am medicated for). This limits the amount of jobs that I can hold significantly, but I'd been managing until this past December, when a congenital knee issue became too aggravated by my work, and I could no longer peform properly. I had surgery on the left knee in March, but the right knee is still affected, and my recovery has been slow and difficult (in part hindered by my other health issues). In addition to work, I also became unable to continue attending school due to the commute and physical aspects.

I am currently in a situation where I cannot find a job in my small city. I was hoping to move, but my debt is currently crippling those plans, and I am facing the prospect of losing my apartment and much of what I hold dear. Because I have exhausted my other resources (auctioning off belongings, taking odd jobs for pocket money, checking to see if I had any rich uncles near death), I'm turning to you for help.

What Your Donation Will Do

All donations will go toward paying off my debts and securing my new apartment while I find a new job. I am currently in arrears in all of my utilities (phone, internet, gas/electric), my credit cards are groaning under their own weight, and I have literally (used in the proper, literal sense) no money. Your donation will be the helping hand to get me out of the hole I've fallen into, and steady me while I dust myself off and keep walking.

My Plan for the Future

Crowdfunding isn't the ultimate answer to my problems. I know that while it may help me get past this rough patch, it won't carry me the rest of the way across the street. That's why it's important for me to have a short-term and long-term plan for my future. In the short term, I will continue my job search in my new city. I will take precautions that I am budgeting my money well and keeping my affairs in order. In the long term, I hope to go back to finish the final 40 credits of my degree. I intend to continue to find ways to improve my overall health and work my way back to wellness. I would someday like to own my own business, or teach, or be a journalist. Regardless of what I decide to do, I know I will get there by being indomitable, cheerful, and with a little help from my friends. And, hopefully, you!

Thank you so much

I appreciate the time you took to read this. I have absolute faith in the kindness of strangers and the goodness of humanity, and I am grateful from the bottom of my heart to anyone who is able to contribute even the smallest amount.

  • I know it isn't much, but I figured that, with any luck, I could be part of all the "little bits and pieces" that help you get back to where you deserve to be. Best of luck moving forward. :) -Garrett
